John Nunes Wins The Inaugural Masters of Hack Skins Game
On The PGAHT’s marquee event, The Masters of Hack, took on a fresh and exciting twist this year, as players embraced a new skins format instead of the traditional 4-man best ball. Held at the immaculate Paradise Valley Golf Course in Fairfield, CA, the day delivered near-perfect conditions, with temperatures sitting comfortably in the mid-80s and the course in pristine shape. This year’s field featured nine determined competitors: John Nunes, Greg Nunes, Brady Clark, Eric Dolojan, Ray Viado, Troy Marquez, Robert Holmes, Ted Saguindel, and Brayden Saguindel — all eager to test their individual skills in this new, high-stakes format.
With a $10 buy-in per player, the total pot stood at $90, and the value of each skin was determined by the number of skins captured. In this fiercely contested round, seven skins were ultimately won, making each skin worth approximately $13. The emphasis shifted from overall team performance to individual hole-by-hole triumphs, bringing out a sharper competitive edge and demanding that each player take full ownership of every shot.
John Nunes led the charge, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure by securing two valuable skins. The remaining skins were spread across the field, with Brady Clark, Ted Saguindel, Brayden Saguindel, Troy Marquez, and Ray Viado each capturing one skin. The new format highlighted not only the players’ technical skills but also their mental toughness and strategic decision-making on every hole, reinforcing the importance of staying focused and aggressive throughout the round.
Ultimately, this year’s Masters of Hack proved to be a resounding success, delivering excitement, camaraderie, and memorable moments for all involved. The shift to a skins format injected fresh energy into the event and set the stage for future competitions, where every hole — and every shot — truly counts. The PGAHT continues to raise the bar, and players and fans alike now look ahead with anticipation to the next event on the tour schedule.
